Welcome to the UC Berkeley Amerindo Research Website!
In the early 1950s, tens of thousands of Dutch Eurasians with roots in the former East Indies, so-called “Indos,” immigrated to the United States. The term “Amerindo” refers to the Indo community in the United States.
This website seeks to provide information on the Amerindo identity. We particularly focus on Indo heritage and traditions that remain a part of everyday life in the United States.
Any person looking for information on the Indo community in the United States and/or planning to conduct research on this community is welcome to contact us. Our group will be happy to share our data with student writing their dissertations/monographs as well as individuals planning activities relating to the Indo community. Through our partnership with SARI, we are able to link our data on the Amerindo community within the global context of the Indo diaspora. We have also established a partnership with Indisch Historish.
