Guide to the Documents

On this page, you will find two detailed lists enumerating the searchable documents on New Netherland available on this site as well as the contents of the full collection.

The descriptions of the searchable documents include the document language as well as information about the archive from where the materials originated. Where indicated, some of the approximately 700 pages of material in this sub-collection include a single documents in three forms: the Dutch transcription, an English translation, and a copy of the original handwritten manuscript.

Permission to publish material from the collection must be requested in writing from the Permissions Officer, The Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.
